Splashing into summer

I have to start this with an apology.

It's been a very long time since I last surfed my way through my lovely blog roll. Before it all went pear shaped, I would religiously post, read and comment like a pro. During the course of a new job which exponentially took over my life, I foolishly thought I could juggle 14-hour work days with mothering a toddler, making ends meet in the family budget, entertaining a suspicion of a social life, managing with the laundry and dirty dishes AND blogging. It turns out I did not.

Days are too short and mommy needs a clone.

A few weeks ago I was bestowed a lovely award by a bloggie buddy whom I dearly care for. Now that my work engagement has been absolved, I have finally carved out the time necessary to tell you about this new addition that adorns my sidebar.

Karen of Border Town Notes is among my dear African continent blogger friends. She posts about her places and her days in Botswana - one of the world's most intriguing, fascinating and beautiful countries - with grace and love. Go visit her site and immerse yourself in the magic that is sub-Saharan Africa. A very powerful magnet.

The Splash Award is given to "alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive and inspiring blogs". Thank you very much, mermaid Karen!

I wish to pass this onto 9 worthy blogs and they are:

100 Words from Dublin

A Woman of No Importance
A2eatwrite
Angela Recada - Art-Life-Stories
Blogpourri
Chef Chuck's Cucina
Food Glorious Food... and life in general
NYC/Caribbean Ragazza
WaystationOne

Brew some coffee. Take off your shoes. Slip into something comfy and read on.

Ciao

  1. Lola, thanks so much! You certainly deserve this award, as well. And I am fascinated by Botswana, so I will certainly be visiting Karen, as well, along with your other picks, except for NYC/Caribbean Ragazza, as I've long been a fan of hers and I visit there whenever I can in any case! Happy Monday!

  6. Lola,

Thanks for the award! Life gets a little crazy at times. of the list, while missing your posts, I am glad the blog was the one neglected. Being a mommy is important and I am sure E loves every minute.

  10. Welcome back! I was so happy to see that you had posted again, and then completely taken by surprise by the lovely award. Thank you so much!

I know I'm stating the obvious, but blogging should always, always take a back-seat to other aspects of life, especially mothering. My 6'4" son just graduated from high school and still needs his mama, whether he admits it or not. And, surprisingly, sometimes he does admit it!

    Thanks again, dear Lola,
    Angela

  17. Hi Lola,

Thank you so much for the award and congratulations on receiving it in the first place :-)

I know what you mean about finding the time. Even though my kids are all grown up now and have kids of their own, I still find that they need me, even if it is just to talk....like the hour I spent on MSN messenger with my daughter last night. :-)

Then there is the demands of the end of the school year and my best friend's little girl, who spends time with me after school and during the holidays while her Mum works.

Sometimes blogging just has to take a second, third or fourth place !! But it is always there fo you when you have the time ... :-)

Now that the school holidays are here, I'm also looking forward to catching up on what is going on in blogdom ...starting with these blogs. I'm off to visit. :-)
