SkyWatch Friday

Daybreak at Anzio
2003

This photo was taken on a chilly December morning on the Anzio coastline during a day at work. Part of the reduced crew I was working with and I were waiting for the Belafonte ship to sail by for a second unit shot. We sat there in awe of this beautiful sky, almost hoping it wouldn't.

During the filming of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, this sunrise on the calm Anzio waters is among the fondest memories of those busy days.

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

Fabulous clouds. Love the color of the sunset too.

The clouds actually look like they are in motion...and the water is dancing along. Molto bella (is that correct Italian for very beautiful? I get my descriptors wrong a lot.)

Oh, I also meant to say ...yes, I agree with you ... seeing things in cloud shapes really does mean that we are still allowing the child within us to be.. :-)

Nice picture. I love Anzio. I also could watch the sea forever and ever, though sunsets more than sunrise. Sunsets are killing me. Technically they are similar to sunrises. It's not a decadent vein. It's the mildness and the peace.
